The Opportunity

We are changing healthcare and bringing a slow moving goliath of an industry into the present while blazing a trail into the future of radiology and clinical operations through software, automation and AI.

We are looking for a Manager of Global Payroll & Benefits to  manage and oversee the global payroll and benefits operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role will report to the Head of People. The ideal candidate is a hands-on expert whose strategic, methodical, detail-oriented, and capable of working autonomously while being an integral part of a dynamic team in a scaling startup environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee the processing of payroll for employees in Canada and the US a plus, and some global experience, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. This includes calculating wages, overtime, deductions, and taxes.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state/provincial, and local tax laws. Stay updated on tax regulations changes, file necessary documents, and manage tax-related queries from employees or authorities.
  • Design, implement, and manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks. Negotiate with vendors and ensure benefit programs meet legal requirements and company budgets.

  • Coordinate with People teams to align payroll and benefits with the company’s overall strategy.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting and filing of payroll-related documents.
  • Develop and implement efficient payroll processes and systems.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll and benefits records for all employees. Implement efficient document management systems to ensure data integrity and security.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding payroll, taxes, and benefits inquiries. Provide clear, professional responses and ensure high levels of employee satisfaction.
  • Generate regular reports on payroll expenses, tax filings, and benefits utilization for senior management. Provide insights and recommendations for cost optimization and benefits enhancement.
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll and benefits processes to ensure compliance with laws and regulations. Address any discrepancies or issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve payroll and benefits processes for efficiency and effectiveness. Implement best practices, leverage technology solutions, and streamline workflows. 
  • Lead, manage, and train the payroll and benefits team.
  • Work closely with HR, finance, and other departments to align payroll and benefits policies with overall business strategies. Collaborate on cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Stay updated on global payroll and benefits trends and legal changes.
  • Keep skills and knowledge current by attending workshops, seminars, and conferences related to payroll, tax, and benefits management. 

What You’ll Bring

  • Certification in payroll or benefits administration and/or PHR is a plus
  • Proven experience in payroll and benefits administration, particularly in a global context
  • Experience managing a team
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, HR, or related field
  • Familiarity with HRIS software—Rippling a plus
  • Strong knowledge of global payroll regulations and benefits administration
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient in using payroll software (Rippling a plus) or other global platforms, such as ADP, Workday, Ceridian
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite, specifically, high proficiency in using excel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excel in scaling startup environments where HR infrastructure is still being developed
  • Demonstrate the initiative and capability to build critical processes from the ground up
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with employees, management, and external partners.
  • Must be a proactive builder and doer, taking a hands-on approach to create and implement necessary payroll infrastructures, rather than merely directing others
  • Must seek out and embrace the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the foundation of the company’s HR capabilities with creativity, resilience, and a problem-solving mindset
  • Thrive in fast-paced environments and be open to managing both strategic and tactical tasks. Show willingness to handle tedious tasks while maintaining the ability to pivot and address emerging challenges

  • The base salary we offer for this role ranges from: $100,000 – 110,000 USD per year
