Job Description

We are looking for a Head of Growth to lead our efforts in driving growth within our existing customers. This role is responsible for maximizing the value of our current customers through targeted growth initiatives, increasing customer engagement, and fostering loyalty. You will develop strategies that both grow revenue from existing customers and extend customer lifetime value (LTV) by focusing on retention, upsell, cross-sell, and re-engagement.

We are seeking a candidate who is both a strategic leader and hands-on contributor—someone who excels in analyzing data and transforming insights into actionable plans. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a deep understanding of growth marketing and retention strategies. You’ll be responsible for designing and implementing data-driven campaigns to boost customer engagement, loyalty, and overall revenue within our existing customer base.

Responsibilities

  1. Growth Marketing:
    • Develop and implement strategies to drive revenue growth from existing customers through upsell, cross-sell, and repeat purchase initiatives.
    • Identify and execute opportunities to expand product adoption, deepen customer relationships, and increase average order value.
    • Work with product and sales teams to create and promote offers, product recommendations, and loyalty-driven incentives aimed at maximizing customer engagement and spend.
  2. Retention & Lifecycle Marketing:
    • Lead the development of retention strategies focused on improving customer loyalty and increasing repeat purchase rates.
    • Own and optimize email, SMS, and other automated communication flows designed to re-engage customers and reduce churn.
    • Create targeted lifecycle marketing campaigns that guide customers through various stages—from initial purchase to long-term loyalty.
  3. Customer Segmentation & Personalization:
    • Use data-driven insights to segment the customer base and develop personalized campaigns tailored to high-value customer segments.
    • Leverage customer behavior and transaction data to create personalized messaging, offers, and content that resonate with specific customer segments.
    • Implement and manage customer loyalty programs and initiatives that incentivize continued engagement and higher lifetime value.
  4. Customer Experience & Journey Optimization:
    • Collaborate with the product and customer success teams to enhance the overall customer experience, ensuring all touchpoints are optimized for retention.
    • Map out customer journeys and develop strategies to address any pain points that could lead to churn, improving retention at key stages in the customer lifecycle.
    • Gather customer feedback and analyze data to refine strategies and deliver a seamless, personalized experience across all channels.
  5. Data Analysis & Performance Tracking:
    • Monitor and analyze key retention and growth metrics such as customer lifetime value (LTV), churn rates, repeat purchase rates, and average order value (AOV).
    • Conduct A/B testing and performance analysis to identify winning strategies and optimize existing campaigns for higher ROI.
    • Develop regular reports to share insights with senior leadership and provide recommendations based on data-driven results.
  6. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Alignment:
    • Work closely with content, design, and product teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all touchpoints, including email, SMS, website, and customer support.
    • Partner with product development to identify and promote relevant products to existing customers that align with their preferences and behaviors.
    • Manage external agencies and freelancers to ensure all efforts support broader growth and retention goals.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in creating and executing growth and retention strategies with a proven record of success, ideally within the CPG sector and at a high-growth startup.
  • Expertise in analyzing and improving retention metrics such as LTV, returning customer revenue, and subscription revenue and churn.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for effective teamwork and external partnership.
  • Experience with tools such as Klaviyo, Shopify, Recharge, and preferably Google Analytics.
  • Keen interest in understanding customer behavior to drive strategic decisions.
  • Action-oriented with a strong inclination for experimentation and learning.
  • Passion for high-performance lifestyles, with personal knowledge and curiosity about supplements and sports nutrition.
  • Design and copywriting experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, economics, marketing, business administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Location

  • This position is a hybrid role. Must be able to be in office in Los Angeles, CA 3 days a week.
