Zus is a shared health data platform designed to accelerate healthcare data interoperability by providing easy-to-use patient data via API, embedded components, and direct EHR integrations. Founded in 2021 by Jonathan Bush, co-founder and former CEO of athenahealth, Zus partners with HIEs and other data networks to aggregate patient clinical history and then translates that history into user-friendly information at the point of care. Zus’s mission is to catalyze healthcare’s greatest inventors by maximizing the value of patient insights – so that they can build up, not around.
What we’re looking for
The Data Acquisition team at Zus is looking for a hands-on, technical, and healthcare-savvy Senior Product Manager that is eager to jump into a rapidly scaling healthcare platform startup. This person will be responsible for leading one of our Data Acquisition teams.
As part of our team, you will be responsible for:
Defining and prioritizing requirements for one of Zus’s Data Acquisition teams. The types of problems we solve include:
Constructing the most complete, freshest clinical picture of a patient possible so that providers don’t have to go hunting for records or delay patient care
Helping both technical and clinical users understand what data we are surfacing to them, how complete it is, how fresh it is
Connecting new data partners and vendors to the Zus network
Transforming healthcare data from a variety of formats (CDA, HL7v2, NCPDP, FHIR, even PDFs) to Zus’s FHIR standard, handling a lot of messiness and variation along the way
As we grow, scaling our operations and technical pipelines to handle more patients and data needs
Customer Feedback: Continuously iterate on data products based on customer feedback, actively seeking input from users to enhance usability and coverage
Partner Collaboration: Collaborate with our external partners to ensure we’re integrating with them correctly and delivering on our roadmap
Data Reporting: Collaborate with Commercial team to proactively address data-related concerns including developing customer dashboards, metrics, and reports tailored to customer use cases
Data Quality: Maintain metrics on data quality and explore opportunities to improve data coverage and accuracy
Issue Investigation: Examine customer-reported and internally identified issues that require data such as changes in encounter volume, appointment duplication or patient progress issues
Sprint Management: Collaborate closely with the engineering team to manage sprints, ensuring that development efforts align with product goals and timelines including the entire release lifecycle, from planning to deployment
You’re a good fit because you have
Prior experience in product management, including managing a roadmap, setting priorities and making tough tradeoffs, and translating customer needs into detailed product requirements
Worked closely with engineering teams to nurture early products from prototypes to beta to GA, while maintaining and iterating on established capabilities
Familiarity with healthcare data standards and formats, with a strong interest in this domain
Enthusiasm about exploring and analyzing data using SQL and business intelligence (BI) tools
Experience building intuitive technical interfaces and user experiences (APIs, data marts, data itself)
Experience investigating data trends, answering questions, and proactively improving data quality
Empathetic approach to customers that allows you to relate to and build trust with our technical users (digital health engineers) and their customers (patients and providers)
A collaborative mindset that allows you to partner with our Customer Success and Sales teams to make individual customers successful
Clear communication style that allows you to craft nuanced messaging to win over teammates, leadership, and the market
A self-starter attitude that shows that you are ready for the fast, and sometimes unstructured, nature of an early startup
