The Opportunity

Good Inside is looking for a strategically-minded, exceptionally organized Engineering Manager to join our Platform team. This is a full-time position reporting directly to the Head of Engineering. As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for managing the engineers that develop the backend of our user-facing applications. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management abilities, and team leadership to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality applications. This is a hybrid role in Manhattan with three days a week required onsite.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Lead and manage a team of dedicated Python engineers.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Ensure the implementation of best practices in software development, including code reviews, testing and documentation.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technology in backend development, with a focus on scalability,  and apply this knowledge to tackle complex problems in innovative ways.
  • Facilitate effective communication between the development team and other departments.
  • Documenting best practices, architectural choices, and processes related to software engineering and machine learning.

What We’re Looking For in You 

  • You have a bachelor or masters in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience
  • You have 2+ years of experience in a leadership or managerial role, preferably in a startup environment.
  • You have 5+ years of hands-on backend development experience with a focus on performance, scalability and observability.
  • You have a solid understanding of front-end and back-end development processes. 
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain relationships at all levels within the organization
  • You have exceptional attention to detail and project management skills and experience with tooling like Jira and Notion

  • Compensation transparency range of $180,000 to $220,000 annually + company equity
