The Opportunity

We are looking for a full-time Senior Accountant to join our growing Finance & Accounting Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a person with experience in month end close process, full stack accounting, a solid foundational understanding of accounting cycles, high analytical abilities, a willingness to learn, and great interpersonal skills to work in a team that is supporting a fast-growing business. The Senior Accountant will have the opportunity to scale with an internationally-growing business whose Finance & Accounting function is centralized here in Canada.

What You’ll Do

  • Assisting the Finance Manager, day to day operational activities including being the champion of the account payable cycle, oversees credit card spend and playing a major role in tax filings for multi States and internationally. 
  • The role will also be working with a team to manage accruals, receivables, fixed asset ledger, general record keeping, posting journal entries, reconciling entries, treasury management, and communicating with vendors.
  • Work closely with a high-performance team to ensure our monthly records are closed on a timely basis using the NetSuite accounting system.
  • Supporting the Finance Manager and Controller through complex accounting issues
  • Assistance with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated and statutory financial statements
  • Preparing and reviewing working papers required for annual financial statement audits
  • Performing comprehensive research on various accounting and tax matters
  • Participating in ad hoc accounting, tax and finance projects, analyses and initiatives as and when required
  • Other related duties, as needed

What You’ll Bring

  • Qualified professional accountant (CPA) or candidate pursuing a designation preferred, but not required
  • A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in an accounting department; experience in public practice or the software/tech industry or medical space as an asset
  • Familiarity with US GAAP Accounting Standards is an asset
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience in researching and preparing technical accounting memos
  • Expert level Excel proficiency, with advanced knowledge of Word
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize and time-manage
  • Impeccable accuracy with numbers and high attention to detail
  • Excellent telephone etiquette and ability to write clear, concise and formal business communications
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion and to be entrusted with confidential information
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team with minimal supervision
  • Proven experience in identifying and implementing accounting process improvements is an asset
  • Familiarity with the Netsuite ERP system and cloud-based accounting applications is an asset

  • The base salary for this role ranges from $75,000 – $85,000 in local currency depending upon experience
